CATS began operation on a formal basis in August of 1979 and became a member of Tall Clubs International in July 1980. CATS is a not for profit social organization for tall people, whose purpose is to promote tall awareness, provide fellowship and social activities, and network with other tall clubs throughout the US and Canada.  TCI similarly promotes tall awareness throughout the world.
