Who are we and what do we do?
Hartford Heights Tall Club was founded in 1991. We are a chapter of Tall Clubs International (TCI), an organization of 50 tall clubs throughout North America. We came together over one common attribute -- we're all vertically enhanced! We're a social club for tall people, plain and simple. We like to get together and have fun.

What types of activities do we host?
Whatever!!!
We hold a regular meeting on the first Friday of each month. The location varies. Usually they are held at one of the officers' homes, and do a sort of potluck dinner then do business and event planning.

We try to schedule a regular 4th Sunday brunch. Again, location varies. We have a few favorite places we visit, and once in a while, we try a new place. Other than that, we have a smorgasbord of events... things such as:
o Movie night and pizza
o Games night at someone's house
o Miniature golf -- Pretty funny watching us golf with the smallest putters we can find!
o Concerts on the green in several towns -- great summer event!
o We did an outing to a museum in Worcester, MA
o We have a trip to Block Island planned in August.
o Sometimes we go to the Bushnell for comedy shows. A few members went to see Spam-a-lot.
· -- whatever you want to do, put it on the calendar, and see who else wants to go!


Age-wise:
Most of us are mid 30s to mid 50s. We have a few younger and older members. To us, age is just a number. It's all about who you are.


Gender-wise:
We're about 60/40 women to men. This is NOT a dating service or dating club. However, we do not discourage dating if you so choose. We have a few couples in the club. (Couldn't kick them out once they got married!) Many of us who are married, were members as singles, so when we're in club, we're just 2 people out for a social event.


Rules-wise:
We require that you attend 2 social events and 1 business meeting. At the business meeting, you'll be measured in stocking feet (minimum height requirement is set by TCI at 5'10" for women, 6'02" for men). It's a good idea to do some social events with us so you can get to know us and visa versa.

When you choose an event to attend, call the host/hostess to RSVP. Our rule is that if the venue or meeting time changes, the host is only required to call those who have RSVP'd to them.
If there is some kind of pre-purchase of tickets involved, you are responsible for payment if you cancel at the last minute... but most of our events are pay when you get there type of plans.


There are other tall clubs in the area who host parties and events. We are invited to attend those as well. You'll see information in the newsletter.

TCI holds a convention each year around the 4th of July. At convention, we'll spend a week with 200 or so tall friends from all over the continent. We have a delegate's meeting where we do the business of TCI, we have a pageant and crown a Miss Tall International, our official spokesperson. We do a lot of sightseeing, dressing in silly costumes, dancing, swimming, volleyball, and socializing.
