Our monthly potluck dinner and business meeting at Gloria's home in Windsor.

This meeting will include nominations for officers for the 2010 year, so please give some thought to whether you will be willing to serve and who else you would like to see fill the officer positions, which include:
--President
--Vice President
--Treasurer
--Secretary
--Membership
--Social
--Webmaster
--Publicity
--Editor
Nominations will then be published in the December newsletter and elections held at the December 4 business meeting.

Other agenda items will include a bylaws change regarding membership fees and planning for our annual anniversary event in February.

And be sure to come with your ideas for events in the upcoming months!

Note that since this event is in a private home, you must RSVP to get directions.

FYI, this home has both a dog and a cat residing here. And the dog is a very active and very large puppy, but I'll ask the teenager to keep him downstairs in the family room, so we can all avoid the 70 pound lap dog!

Hauntings is a spooky theatrical lantern-lit tour of the West Hartford's North Cemetery. Hear the tales of the dead as your guide leads you safely through...or will she? North Cemetery is located off North Main Street, between Loomis Drive and Fern Street. Tickets are $15 for adults and $9 for children under 18. We’ll plan on joining the 7:00 tour. This event is popular and reservations are recommended, so please RSVP by October 26. For those who are interested, we may aim for dinner at one of West Hartford’s great restaurants afterwards.

Hauntings is a fundraiser for the Noah Webster House museum, go to their website for more details...http://www.noahwebsterhouse.org/hauntings.html

The annual Foodshare Empty Bowls event at Manchester Community College. It’s a great event. For your $15 admission, you get to select a bowl from the hundreds of hand-made bowls that have been donated by both professional and amateur local potters. Then on to the scrumptious soups. With the variety of selections, you will be full well before you try all the ones you wanted to.

After lunch, the bowl is yours to keep! A great lunch, a bowl to take home, and you’ve supported the work to end hunger in greater Hartford. What could be better? Those who are interested may wish to shop the craft fair afterwards. We’ll meet a noon near the “bowl table.” Tickets may be purchased in advance from Gloria or at the door.

Be sure to RSVP so that we know to look for you.

Enjoy the fall foliage with a trail ride at Crowley’s Stables in Agawam, Massachusetts. No experience is required as they have a variety of horses and all rides are led by a guide. Rides last about 50 minutes and cost $30 each. We’ll meet at Gloria’s in Windsor for car-pooling at 1:00 PM or if you want to meet us directly at the stables, plan on about 1:30. Please RSVP early, as if we have a group of 8 or more, we need to make a reservation.

Come on and join us at Connecticut’s Renaissance Faire! We'll be joining with some members of the Hartford Area Hiking meetup (http://www.meetup.com/Hartford-Area-Hiking/calendar/11239714/ ) where this event is cross-listed.

Take a step back in time and get lost in the revelry and excitement of the Connecticut Renaissance Faire. Be entertained with story telling, musicians, drama, jousting and so much more as you journey into an enchanted 16th century Harvest Festival.

Be a part of history, or come as you are and immerse yourself in games, theater and New England’s largest Medieval Marketplace. Experience hours of entertainment and sample a variety of Renaissance foods.

Sit back with your Turkey Leg and enjoy a joust. Or, listen to authentic period music while eating a Pirate Pickle. Bring your family and friends and try your hand at games of fortune, or shop among our premium vendors for fine and unique craftsmanship.

Whatever your tastes, the Connecticut Renaissance Faire is a unique entertainment experience and a feast for your imagination – for children of all ages.

We'll meet at 10 AM at the ticket booth before we enter.
