Walk Against Hunger is two weeks away!

Foodshare's 25th Anniversary Walk Against Hunger is only two weeks away!

As of today, 121 teams and 630 individuals have signed up online to participate. Many others are participating offline, using the time-honored paper brochure method for collecting pledges. I know it will take even more great efforts from members of our community to reach this year's Walk goal of $450,000.

While I feel like I often write to you with my hand out, when I consider that one out of ten of our neighbors in greater Hartford are hungry or at risk of hunger, I have no choice but to ask again!

If you've already joined, Thank You! Please take some time to login to your personal Walk webpage. You can add photos and comments, check your personal fundraising goal status, and email family, friends, and co-workers to ask for their support.

If you'd like to walk, but have not signed up yet, you can sign up online by going to www.foodshare.org and clicking on the Walk logo. You can join my team, Gloria's Glorious Gang, by selecting "join an existing team." You can also call or e-mail me and we'll be sure to send you out paper materials to raise money the old-fashioned way!

If you cannot join us at the Walk, will you consider making a donation to support me and my family as we walk? If you have never visited Foodshare and would like to learn more, please consider joining me for one of our "Community Meetings" next Wednesday, April 23 at 5:30 PM, at our distribution center, 450 Woodland Avenue in Bloomfield. I'll talk about the need and what Foodshare is doing to meet the need, as well as giving a tour of our operation. And then on Sunday, May 4, I will be out walking the walk, not just talking the talk!
