For those of you not making your way to the Poconos to hang out with our Central Jersey friends, come spend the day sampling some of the most delicious food and refreshments at The Phantom Gourmet Beer & Food Fest. There will be a Beer Hall as well as Sumo wrestling, putting greens, mechanical bull, bouncy boxing, and Twister!

MBTA: Take the Blue Line to the Suffolk Downs stop. There will be a shuttle bus running from the train to the main clubhouse every 10 minutes

From downtown Boston: Take Callahan Tunnel. At end of tunnel, the road becomes Route 1A North. Follow two miles until first set of lights. Go straight through lights and main entrance is 200 yards further on right. Look for large green/white sign with horse and Suffolk Downs logo.

From points west: Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) East, through the Ted Williams Tunnel. Follow to Route 1A North. Proceed until first set of lights. Go straight through lights and main entrance is 200 yards further on right. Look for large green/white sign with horse and Suffolk Downs logo.

From points south: I-93 North to I-90 East, through the Ted Williams Tunnel. Follow to Route 1A North. Proceed until first set of lights. Go straight through lights and main entrance is 200 yards further on right. Look for large green/white sign with horse and Suffolk Downs logo.

For more than 20 years the Boston Beanstalks have gathered on the first Friday night of the month at the Riverbend Lounge (formerly the Windjammer) at the Newton Marriott. This is the biggest regularly scheduled event on our calendar. It's not uncommon to see 40 or more tall people here, and you won't be the only new or prospective member! This is the place to start your social calendar planning, arrange carpooling for various events, and find out what's going on with all your Tall friends.

If there's enough interest, we'll head into the restaurant around 8:00 PM to continue the conversation and get something to eat.

Location: Marriott Hotel, 2345 Commonwealth Avenue (Rt. 30) in Newton
Time: 6-8 PM, usually dinner afterwards to 10pm

Directions: Rt. 128 to exit 24 (Rt. 30). At the end of the ramp, go right. The Marriott is just ahead on your left.

Come join your Beanstalk friends for dinner and a movie. Unfortunately the Circle Cinema is closing permanently on September 7th. So this month we'll start at the Applebee's next door to the Circle Cinema for dinner, then drive to the Chestnut Hill AMC Theater for the movie. If you come on the T, we'll make sure you get a ride with somebody.

Regular price for the movie $9.75. However, Tuesday is "Senior Day", so if you're 60 or older it's only $5.00.

Those that come to dinner get to help pick the movie for the evening. The first to arrive will grab a table at Applebee's (next to old Circle Cinema) around 6:15 PM. During dinner we will review what movies are playing and have a start time between 7:30 and 8:00 PM. Whatever the majority can agree on is what we'll see.

When you RSVP Marie will respond with her cell phone number so if you're running late and can't make dinner, you can find out what movie we've decided to see and when it starts.

Been a member of this Meetup but never attended any events? Here's a great opportunity to change that!

We really want to meet all the folks whose names and pictures we see on our Meetup, but whom we have yet to meet in person. The Watch City Brewing Company in Waltham is a great informal location, ideal to mix and mingle and relax at the end of the week. So come along and have a fun and friendly Friday evening with everyone.

Alternatively, if you like great grub and/or very fresh micro-brewed beer, then this is the place for you, so c'mon down & join us!!!!

Directions to Watch City:

From 128 North/South, take Exit 26 (Rt 20 East).

Follow Rt 20 East for approximately 1 1/2 miles (7 lights) through downtown Waltham until you see Sovereign Bank on your right. Take that right onto Moody Street. Follow Moody Street until the second set of lights.

Watch City is directly on the left at the intersection of Moody and Pine. There is parking (free after 6 PM) behind the restaurant. Just take the left at Pine Street and the second left after the building.

If you prefer public transportation, the Waltham Commuter Rail Station is just off Moody Street, approx. 2 blocks away from Watch City .
Waltham is on the Fitchburg Commuter Rail line, fourth stop after leaving from North Station in downtown Boston.

NOTE:
Be careful where you park in Waltham.
Make sure you park in one of the Municipal Parking lots, or in the Watch City parking lot (which is FREE from 6pm onwards).
If you happen to park in the lots in front of or behind the Enterprise Car Rental Agency on Moody Street, your car WILL be towed. It is big bucks and a lot of hassle to retrieve your card from the Tow Yard (I speak from personal experience!).
