For more than 20 years the Boston Beanstalks have gathered on the first Friday night of the month at the Riverbend Lounge (formerly the Windjammer) at the Newton Marriott. This is the biggest regularly scheduled event on our calendar. It's not uncommon to see 40 or more tall people here, and you won't be the only new or prospective member! This is the place to start your social calendar planning, arrange carpooling for various events, and find out what's going on with all your Tall friends. If there's enough interest, we'll head into the restaurant around 8:00 PM to continue the conversation and get something to eat. Location: Marriott Hotel, 2345 Commonwealth Avenue (Rt. 30) in Newton
Time: 6-8 PM, usually dinner afterwards to 10pm
Cost: optional drinks
Directions: Rt. 128 to exit 24 (Rt. 30). At the end of the ramp, go right. The Marriott is just ahead on your left. More on the Newton Marriott

Welcome the spring with a leisurely walk through a beautiful and historic space that also happens to be a cemetery! Watch magnolias start to bloom and listen to the early birds returning on spring migration. Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather. Bring binoculars if you have them. We will meet inside the main gate.

Please note the location for this event has changed from what was previously posted! It's also starting a little earlier than previously indicated to allow some time to talk before the music starts at 8:00 PM. Please RSVP at least a couple of days in advance so we can researve the right size table. Meet friendly people age 35+ who enjoy week-end partying together (with access to a cash bar and food, as well as a small jazz band) in the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel. This Meetup group is recommended by our very own Robyn Laing! The Oak Bar is one of the most elegant venues in Boston and a pleasure to be part of it's history and beauty. Come for:
Classy centrally located hotel venue, on the T & bus route, and easy to get to by car $12 validated valet parking at the hotel NO COVER CHARGE!! Bar and food options available. (It is a little pricey, so you may want to do an appetizer or a dessert rather than a full dinner.) Dancing to a 4 piece jazz band Meeting fun people in the Beanstalks’ demographic who also like to have a good time! Come on, let’s show ‘em how! Dress is dressy casual or better.

Come join your Beanstalk friends for dinner and a movie. Unfortunately the Circle Cinema closed permanently in September. So we'll start at the Applebee's next door to the old Circle Cinema for dinner, then drive to the Chestnut Hill AMC Theater for the movie (it's only 5 minutes away). If you come on the T, we'll make sure you get a ride with somebody. Regular price for the movie $10.00. However, Tuesday is "Senior Day", so if you're 60 or older it's only $6.00. Those that come to dinner get to help pick the movie for the evening. The first to arrive will grab a table at Applebee's (next to the old Circle Cinema) around 6:15 PM. During dinner we will review what movies are playing and have a start time between 7:30 and 8:00 PM. Whatever the majority can agree on is what we'll see. When you RSVP Marie will respond with her cell phone number so if you're running late and can't make dinner, you can find out what movie we've decided to see and when it starts. Please don't come without RSVPing. Recently we ended up canceling dinner and eating in the theater instead because the movie we all wanted to see started to early to eat at Applebee's. I need to know who to contact if plans change. Address for the Theater is:

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Wini’s Cell Phone 617-834-6292 It’s that time for the wearin’ of the green and marching in the St Pat’s Day Parade. This is a 3.2 mile walk, http://www.southiepa rade.org/map.htm and we have had a great time in the past. After the parade we go to The Fowler House Café, http://www.fowlerhousecafe.com/, 1049 Hancock St., Quincy, MA to relax and have a few. We meet at the Broadway “T” station to wait our turn to march. If you plan on driving, park at the Andrew “T” stop (the end of the parade) and take the red line in-bound one stop. Please let me know if you are up to have too much fun and will join me for a modest walk through South Boston.

We're doing a bowling & dancing bash at that grand Boston institution known as the Milky Way (in JP).
The bowling alley is not going to move to the new Bella Luna premises in March (a week after this event!), so it is going to shut down at that point. So - one last time - let's bowl and party our butts off at the Milky Way on Friday March 13th!! Being Friday The 13th, I can't promise that you will get lucky at this event, but if you don't attend, you'll never find out... Event Price is $30 per person, which will cover:
(1) Dedicated reserved party space for our group ("The 80's") while we eat and bowl
(2) Grub! "The Bella Buffet": A variety of gourmet pizza's plus salad
(3) Rental of 3 bowling lanes for 2 hours (7pm-9pm) PLEASE ARRIVE PROMPTLY FOR BOWLING
(4) Shoe rental
(5) Music, dancing, party, party, party after 9pm (Details of DJ/Band to be confirmed closer to the date). Based on what I know right now, the only other cost attendees would have to cover is their drinks, which would be on an individual cash basis (between you & the bartender). With a total group size of up to 40 people, the organizers do not want to have to deal with splitting tabs etc.
