Dance, or just listen, to the fascinatin' rhythms of Rumbafrica, Boston's premier African band. Bring a beach blanket or lawn chair, a box dinner/beverage if you want, insect repellent, and most of all your DANCING SHOES! There are several sandwich places and ice cream places nearby if you want to pick something up. Doggies and kids welcome. Directions

Come join your Beanstalk friends for dinner and a movie. Just a reminder, it's $6.00 Tuesday night at the theater! Those that come to dinner get to help pick the movie for the evening. The first to arrive will grab a table at Tony Pilla's (which is next door to the theater) around 6:30 PM. During dinner we will review what movies are playing and have a start time between 7:30 and 8:00 PM. Whatever the majority can agree on is what we'll see. When you RSVP Marie will respond with her cell phone number so if you're running late and can't make dinner, you can find out what movie we've decided to see and when it starts. Please don't come without RSVPing. Recently we ended up canceling dinner and eating in the theater instead because the movie we all wanted to see started to early to eat in the restaurant. I need to know who to contact if plans change. Address for the Theater is:

For more than 20 years the Boston Beanstalks have gathered on the first Friday night of the month at the Riverbend Lounge (formerly the Windjammer) at the Newton Marriott. This is the biggest regularly scheduled event on our calendar. It's not uncommon to see 40 or more tall people here, and you won't be the only new or prospective member! This is the place to start your social calendar planning, arrange carpooling for various events, and find out what's going on with all your Tall friends. If there's enough interest, we'll head into the restaurant around 8:00 PM to continue the conversation and get something to eat. Location: Marriott Hotel, 2345 Commonwealth Avenue (Rt. 30) in Newton
Time: 6-8 PM, usually dinner afterwards to 10pm
Cost: optional drinks
Directions: Rt. 128 to exit 24 (Rt. 30). At the end of the ramp, go right. The Marriott is just ahead on your left. More on the Newton Marriott

Join Kevin, Kristen, and Carlin for an afternoon and evening of friends and fun. They will provide hamburgers and hot dogs for the grill. You provide the sides, desserts, etc, and your beverage of choice. Bring a sweater or something warm in case the evening is cool. We will check out (break in?) the new patio and fire pit! Craig Scherman is hosting this chance to refresh your knowledge of the US colonial and TCI histories on the same day. The NPS trolley and Rangers take visitors to the birth places of John Adams & John Quincy Adams and the "Old House" mansion they and their descendants used as adults. The total tour lasts 2 - 2.5 hours. For those interested (and at additional cost) we can visit the nearby United First Parish Church to see the crypts containing the Presidents and their wives. Afterwards the group will go to the Fowler House restaurant to have lunch and raise a toast to Tall Clubs' International founder, Kae Sumner Einfeldt. Cost: The park tour is $5.00 + the cost of lunch Parking: Available on Hancock Street or in the Saville Ave. Garage behind the Galleria building (the NPS will validate tickets). You can also take the Red Line to the Quincy Center stop. Directions: Go to the park's website RSVP: Please RSVP by May 1st so Craig can try to make an advance group reservation for the 11:00 AM tour.
